The plants in front, although nicely in focus, detract from the image on the wall and the building in the background. If you moved in closer so you had a field of asphalt crashing into the wall, I think it would have been more effective. Cheers, David

david crofoot: I know what you mean, but I actually wanted to have the grass in shot in the foreground (and the railings framing the shot top and bottom) because nature creeping back in combined with graffiti somehow defines derelict urban spaces for me. So the shot probably has less impact, visually, the way I took it, but it says ‘derelict’ to me more strongly like this. If that makes any sense wink

thats a great shot, the way that the plants, show a conflict between the urban and the natural reflects the conflict displayed on the wall through paint. You took a picture of some crew beef.

Graffiti makes me very angry. Nice photo though grin

The foreground grass adds contrast and some good verticals which compliment and lead the eye neatly upwards to those of the new building behind.

What I like about your pictures is that you see beauty in the ordinary and overlooked. And in your more ‘romantic’ images you choose unusual viewpoints which avoids them becoming too sweet or stale.
