Does anyone have any experiences installing in Media Temples (gs) rails containers? I followed their knowledge base article for setting a up a rails app and when I install tracks it tells me ...

Error executing command:
application failed to start, there doesn’t appear to be a rails application in /home/XXXX/containers/tracks

Any help is appreciated =)

I don’t have any experience with Media Temples. I often have made the mistake to try to start tracks in the wrong directory. With svn exports, you sometimes get long directory structures like {{{/home/lrbalt/src/tracks/trunk/tracks }}}

Is /home/XXXX/containers/tracks the root of your tracks install? You should have an app directory in it, i.e. /home/XXXX/containers/tracks/app

yes it is the root dir of tracks, I did a svn checkout of the current tag into the tracks container directory ...

#/home/XXXX/containers/tracks: ls
README_FIRST app/      config/  doc/  log.tmpl/  script/  tmp/
Rakefile     components/  db/    lib/  public/  test/  vendor/
#/home/XXXX/containers/tracks:

Using rails 1.2.6, also tried with 2.0.2 neither worked.

looks ok to me. I see that you did not create a /log directory (mv log.tmpl log). Did you also configure tracks in /config?

I had already configured the database in the config directory. Looked through the rest of the files the only thing I saw that needed changing was the salt, which i don’t think would need to changed in order to run the app. After moving the log tpl directory the app did start, however all I get is a 403 forbidden when trying to access it =/

There weren’t. which led me to believe it was not setup properly. Completely restarted from scratch completing the steps so far, and got a 500 server error =) Checking the logs it was db related, fixed and up and running! yay!

Thanks for your help Reinier!
