bsag,

I’m curious as to what text editor you use when you program. I’m not a programmer, but need something for (X)HTML, CSS, PHP, ColdFusion, etc.

I’ve prowled through several (which I can list, but no surprises I’m sure), but wondered what your preference is.

(The latest to catch my eye—which I’ve not DL yet—is TextMate, and I think it would be a good tool to improve my habits as well. Being self-taught, one needs to slap oneself into shape every now and again.)

Cheers, faoi

I use TextMate exclusively now, and love it to bits. I do everything text-based in TextMate, not just coding.

I use TextPad I’ve been using it for about 4 years now. It’s a great editor but it seems that it will never be updated.

For Windows, I use the superb http://www.pspad.com/ PSPad.
Their slogan thing is ‘Editor PSPad - freeware unicode developer editor for HTML, PHP, XHTML, JavaScript, ASP, Perl, C and many other languages with HEX editor and multilanguage interface’

Haha. But I do suggest it, it is very good.

I’ve used vi since 1988, so it’s vim for me on every platform.  smile
