Wordpress 1.5
OK, I think I’m finally there; WordPress 1.5 is properly installed. It was a bit more tricky and nerve-wracking than I’d hoped, but I think that’s probably because I’d done quite a bit of hacking of my index.php and comments.php, so I had to merge the old files with the new changes. However, the new structure for templates should make it much easier to upgrade in future.
It didn’t help that I had a corrupted download of the files, permissions problems when I uploaded and conflicts in my .htaccess file. Oh, and a conflict with one of the plugins (HashCash), which is why I made all those cryptic and pointless comments on the previous entry. Anyway, WP 1.5 is a really nice upgrade (and fully justifies the 1.2 -> 1.5 leap). The changes to the admin interface are really smart and make it much easier to manage posts, comments and plugins. As usual, if you do find any lurking problems that I haven’t spotted, let me know.

Looks like a comment I made on the last-but-one entry got eaten, unless it's in the moderation queue. Or you've blocked me.
Oh, and there's a stray "-->" after this comment form.----- David: You're definitely not blocked, and there's nothing in the moderation queue, so it looks like you timed your pressing of the submit button just at the time when I was busily deleting files and uploading new ones. Sorry! I bet it was a great comment too, wasn't it?
I've no idea where the end comment marker is coming from. I've scoured the file and just can't locate it. Still, it's the least of my problems right now

Everything seems to be working OK in my version of Firefox ( 1.0 ) at the moment, and the -> has disappeared too.
Glad your upgrade to 1.5 was a whole lot less painful than mine was! Still, that's what comes of cough early adopting, I suppose.

Comments don't display in Firefox. I e-mailed you about this separately to describe the problem in more detail. I'm posting this particular comment using IE.

Well, it's not related to the upgrade, but it's been bothering me for a while now (in firefox anyway). In your del.icio.us links, there's two of them that overhang the sidebar - the ones with blah.blah.blah link titles.

Unfortunately my comments on the alignment issues are too much for the Wordpress comment spam system, so I've emailed you directly again.

andyp: Thanks for pinpointing the problem which seems to be sorted now.
Lyle: Yeah, it wasn't too bad, but I really must remember not to even attempt these things when I'm rushed and tired. Bad Things happen.
megan: I'll look into it. I think I altered something in the sidebar while hacking, as I don't think that the headings in the sidebar are nested in quite the same way that they used to be.
