Upgraded to WordPress 2.0

Filed under: Blogging, — bsag @ 06:03 PM

I’ve just upgraded to WordPress 2.0 (always a somewhat nerve-wracking process). Things generally seem OK, with the exception that the commenting form has gone AWOL. Previous comments are being displayed, but there’s no form to add new ones.

So, yes—-I do know about it, and I’m currently trying to fix it. More later.

Update: OK, I think that’s go it. It was a rogue plugin. Let me know if there are any other screwy things.

Testing whether comments really work. One two... one two... two...----- While you are at it, could you fix my Outlook Express?

Ooooo! Now I've been confirmed by typing in a number! What next, passwords.

I thought Apples were bug free - and just when I was thinking of getting a Mac Mini.

I should bookmark posts like this to read whenever I get tempted to make the switch to WordPress, thinking it won't be such a big deal...

And the number was to do with the Spam Karma plugin I have installed (nothing to do with Macs). It's generally very clever and picks out comment spam automatically, but for some reason it had a bit of a 'moment' and decided that your perfectly innocent comment was a bit dubious, and hence challenged you with a Captcha. Luckily you're a human and you can see OK, so you passed.

Mr. D.: Oh, that's bad, that's really, really bad :-D

Milan: It really wasn't as bad as it sounds. Installing WordPress from new and importing posts from a compatible system is a bit of a doddle, but when you upgrade an existing installation you have to be a bit careful that you don't overwrite anything you've customised. It's not too bad, and my problem was solely down to having a bit of custom code which I'd forgotten about in my template. I deleted it, and everything was fine.
