This is your sub-conscious calling
Do you ever get the feeling that your sub-conscious is trying to tell you something? I’ve had ‘Make dental appointment’ on my todo list for a few weeks now. As far as I know, my teeth are fine, but I need a check-up before I go to Brazil again in the autumn. For one reason or another, I’ve been very busy, so I haven’t got around to booking an appointment, and the item has languished on the list, overlooked.
Last night I had an extremely vivid and disturbing dream in which I felt my teeth loosening, and then falling out. The sound of the teeth clinking in my hands like small, white pebbles, the metallic taste of the blood in my mouth, and the creeping horror I felt while exploring the blank, soft pockets left by the teeth with my tongue were all horribly real. The first thing I did on waking from the dream was to check my mouth with my tongue and fingers, just to make sure that all my teeth were still there.
If it was a strategy by my sub-conscious to push that particular todo item up the list, it was pretty effective. It’s a pity I can’t get my brain to devise a disturbing dream to get me to finish my grant proposal.

It's a general anxiety dream (have a google), but yeah, it's horrific.
I had one where my top front tooth came loose and when I pulled it out in front of the mirror, my head swung open like it was on a hinge.
I don't normally enjoy waking up, but...

Wish I´d had some sort of warning dream last year before I left for asia. The very day I was to leave (dec. 26!), only hours before departure, I realised i had a serious tooth-gum issue that was not going away. Luckily for me the dental e.r. service was superb (my wife forced me to at least call them...) they fit me in immediately. The dental personal must have thought I was crazy or one of "those" (ie. Little Shop of Horrors) as I started laughing hysterically at the sheer irony and absurdity of the situation as they prepped me to remove my very dead tooth. Otherwise the trip was uneventful and extremely enjoyable.

Ugh, what a disturbing dream! Your description of said dream was also disturbing but also wonderfully poetic, esp. "the sound of the teeth clinking in my hands like small, white pebbles."
Do you relate dreams like this to Mr. Bsag when you wake up? I only tend to tell Jeff about my dreams when I dream about us fighting because I wake up still angry with him, which really isn't fair to him at all.

Dick Davies: Just your description of that dream freaked me out - aaarggh!!
j.c.: Sounds awful! I might have to go and see my old dentist (which is now some distance away), as the local dentists can't fit me in until late September.
Debbie: It was incredibly vivid (unfortunately!). I do tell him about some of my dreams - particularly disturbing ones, because I want to reassure myself that it's not true (if you know what I mean).

Haha. I get those a lot. Usually right before a dental appointment as well.
