Pigeons

I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for pigeons having worked with them for several years. Their ability to notice a new food source within seconds of it appearing is quite impressive.

... grrr ... don't mention pigeons. I work in a school and they are the bane of my life. They are, of course, attracted by our lazy little blighters who drop scraps everywhere. They roost in our assembly hall and let fly when the boss is en-speech!----- p. Julie: Hehe. Isn't letting fly when the boss is speaking something in their favour? I think that people take against pigeons mainly because they are too successful--which from a species like humans is a bit rich!

Well, the students think that letting fly mid-speech is incredibly humourous ... but I mainly get the Boss's opinion!

When I was in London a few years ago, I took a photo of the lovely mermaids in Trafalgar square. I did not notice, while taking the photo, any pigeons. But when I got the photo back, there is one pigeon, posed dead center of the photo, looking (it seems) directly at the camera. I think s/he was saying "cheese." What makes it funniest is, as your picture below shows, it's virtually impossible to find "one" pigeon anywhere. But really; there's only the one.

It made me laugh so hard when I saw it that I think I injured myself. I love that photo, and the stealth posed-pigeon.
