Mac nostalgia

Filed under: Linky Linky, — bsag @ 10:05 AM

Saltation sent me a link to this classic site, a brilliantly done emulation of a Mac SE running System 7.1. Words cannot express how wonderful it is—-just go and visit it. It even has the Russian Tetris on it, on which I wasted many an hour while trying to write my PhD thesis on my PowerBook 100 running System 7. The ‘eep’ sound while the system extensions were loading almost brought nostalgic tears to my eyes.

That's insane! Aah Asteroids smile----- I found a package on VersionTracker a while back with all sorts of old apple sounds in it. Those work quite nicely in OS X's alert sound preferences.

Harold beat me to it. I'm on a PC these days but I have old Apple sound effects in use. Anytime I see anyone type eep, I think of that sound...

    martin: I know - excellent!

Harold: Oooo. I might just have to use that.

Gordon: Me too. I bought my PowerBook 100 second-hand from an Irish student, and he had an error sound which was a recording of him saying 'gobshoite' in a particularly satisfying way. I used that for quite a while.
