Good job I don’t live in Germany…
This news seems so weird it must be a fake, but apparently it is now illegal to kill ants in Germany. I would certainly get locked up. After a prolonged campaign of baiting traps with poison, the numbers of my ants declined a bit, but recently they seem to have staged a bit of a comeback, and once again, I’m finding that my sandwiches are ant-garnished.

Actually not quite right. What is the case is that some kinds of forrest ants are under protection in Germany, because they are an endangered species. And it is illegal to kill animals of endangered species. So you can call help from one of those 85 people who move the ant colony to the forrest. And it is not illegal to kill single ants, it is illegal to use toxic stuff to kill the whole colony. It's the same with some kinds of wasps and bees, as those are under protection, too (ok, in the case of bees they usually belong to someone, so it's a different situation).
A german article on this: http://www.n24.de/boulevard/nus/?a2003042910063176407----- If you have a problem with ants indoors you can use cinnamon to cut of the ants path. Just make sure that the ants have a way OUT. Cinnamon is good to use if you have kids or pets, apart from ants that is. This has been used by my mrs. Charlotte, and it works.

Georg: Ah, I thought it sounded a bit whacky! That makes much more sense. My ants have obviously decided to become 'house ants'.
JoRo: Unfortunately, my ants defy everything I know about ants (which admittedly isn't a great deal), and have no discernable trail.

Up in Manchester, I think they're saving themselves for one big assault. The last three years, the kitchen extension has been plagued with the little sods, to the extent that poison traps, powder, and that vile Nippon liquid (I'm amazed Japan hasn't complained about that brandname yet) - and this year there've been no ants at all.
Maybe I'm wrong, it's not a kid that's been breaking into my house, it's the ants all forming up into something the size/shape of a human to deceive everyone...

Lyle: Hehehe. Man, you've been having a bit of a time of it lately, haven't you? I've only been catching up with my blog reading in stages recently, and it seems like every time I go back to your blog, something else horrible has happened. Poor you :-(
