Finally, some sun

St. George

After days of rain, it’s really nice to see the sun and some blue sky. It makes the stone look really warm and golden. After what must be years of walking past this Chapel, I noticed St. George slaying the dragon on top of it. It’s amazing what a bit of sun can do.

I think winter sunlight has special colours. (Not much dust in the air, or something.) You photographers might know better than me.----- think it's partly down to the lower angle of incidence or summat...

Yes, the far north of Scotland is pretty much like this all year - it's lovely. But cold. And very short days in winter, so it's swings and roundabouts...

The lower the angle of the sun (i.e. the more air it has to travel through) the warmer the light will appear, as blue light is scattered more readily than the longer wavelengths. Hence morning and evening light tends to have a lower colour temperature than during the rest of the day.
