Casting a shadow
p. This is fabulous—Safari 1.1 (included with Panther) “implements (There’s a screenshot here in case you don’t have Safari 1.1)”:http://whatdoiknow.org/ the CSS text-shadow property. When I was learning about CSS, I remember reading about text-shadow and getting quite excited, before I realised that no current browser actually supported it. Judging by the nice examples produced by [“Frank Limbacher(This page won’t make a lot of sense if you don’t already have Safari 1.1)”:http://www.mediaworkers.de/text-align/shadow.html], the results can look pretty stunning.
p. When I get some free time (hah!), I might include some shadowed text as a special treat for Panther users, and wait for the rest of the browsers to catch up.

How much free time can it take? It's one line in the css file -- I threw it into a few of the headline properties on my page, just to see what it looks like.
I first heard about it on Paolo Valdemarin's page, http://paolo.evectors.it/.----- Well, it's not so much the time it would take (which I agree is pretty negligible), as the long and impatient queue of other important things on my to do list. Plus, I know that if I start looking at my stylesheet, I get sucked in thinking, "I'll just fix that thing while I'm here". Four hours later, I'm still tinkering.

Damn, damn, damn, damn! ... and damn! Just when I'd reconciled myself to not updating for a while (for the sake of getting some work done rather than playing about with a new OS for hours on end) I find out about this. Admittedly, it's no big deal, but the fact that I looked at Frank Limbacher's page, and can't see the effects because I'm still with 10.2.8, is deeply irritating. It's also really, really irritating that this bothers me. I hate not having the latest toys

looks like it also supports 'display: inline-block', so once i take a look at its header i can feed it the enhanced version of my moblog [currently only opera users are treated to this].

The transparency thing is pretty cool too. Must give that a go some time.
