I've finally got round to posting some more pictures to my photoblog—the thumbnails aren't very interesting, but I'm quite pleased with the full-sized results, despite the annoying jagged edges on the diagonal lines. I think these are the result of compression, but if anyone has any suggestions for avoiding them in future, I'd be grateful.

Great photos. The bullring is quite photogenic isn't it? Ps. Thanks for the email.

Brian: Thanks! The architecture is nice, it's just a shame about the content of the place. ![]()
Paul: Hmm, I do use Pictorialis to upload and resize the images now, but I used to do it myself in Photoshop. I suppose I'll have to decide whether to prioritise convenience (meaning I might actually post a bit more often) or beauty.
Clair: Yes, it's quite nice if you look around.

My daughter may be going to Birmingham University if her "A" Levels come out OK (crossed fingers), so watch out for a small badgerette reading Philosophy & Modern Greek there this Autumn. Not of course that anywhere beginning with B has any significance in your future eh bsag? ....tease ...tease

Yikes! The photos are wonderful. You have quite the artistic eye.----- I don't think the jags are the result of compression, so much as naive subsampling when generating the smaller image. Not sure how you're generating the smaller image. If the upload software is handling that itself, and you can't get it to use a more sophisticated algorithm, you might need to resize the image yourself before uploading so that you can control the algorithm. I do that with the bicubic sampling in Fireworks, but I'm sure Photoshop has something similar. The dome curves and high contrast on this one of mine would be very susceptible to jags without an algorithm that smooths effectively. HTH.
