180 degrees
Our new house is on the same train line that I used to commute to work on, but on the other side of the University. This means that I arrive at (and leave) the University on the opposite platform to the one I’m used to. It’s going to feel quite weird until I’m used to it, and lends a kind of ‘Alice Through The Looking-Glass’ feel to my mornings, particularly when I’m not quite awake. Human auto-pilot is a surprisingly powerful thing.

The danger is that you automatically leave the University and walk to the wrong platform when you go back to school.........

In the evenings you'll be able to wave across to your old platform, and maybe some of your former fellow passengers will recognise you and actually think to themselves for a split-second, 'Oh, hang on - am I on the wrong platform here?'
Just think of all the hours of fun to be had!
(Or perhaps not.)

Jonathan Briggs: I've nearly done that a couple of times
David (TEFL Smiler): That would be fun, but thanks to the magic of a commute that only takes half the time of the previous one, I've shifted my work day half an hour later, so I don't see any of my former fellow passengers any more. I do, however, get an extra hour in bed, work the same number of hours, and still get home at the same time as before: yippee!

Off-topic comment, but I think you might appreciate it: I seem to remember you mentioning you're a Smiths fan. Then get thee to the UK iTunes free download single of the week, if you haven't already. It's a somewhat different version of 'Panic' by the Puppini Sisters...
